If you’ve always wanted to give pottery a go but didn’t want to commit to a lengthy course, then this is the perfect class for you. Learn the basics of how to throw on a potters wheel, getting messy and hands on with the clay. Learn a new skill and soak up the studio atmosphere.
This 2 hour pottery session is ideal for those with little to no experience who are keen to try out the potters wheel. In this 1-1 session, you will have my undivided attention as I guide you through the basics of wheel-throwing, where you will create truly unique pieces of pottery.
At the end of the session, you can pick four items that you have made that will then be trimmed by me and then dip glazed in your chosen colour and fired for you to collect around 2-3 weeks later. This is included in the price. If you would like to glaze your own pieces you can do so in one of our glazing workshops.
Details and available dates will be emailed to you on purchase.
We look forward to potting woth you!
What you will learn: I will teach you the basic techniques of throwing on the potter's wheel, taking you through the process of how to create you very own unique pieces of pottery. Centering the clay, opening up the base, pulling up the walls and shaping the clay.
What you will make: I will teach you the basics of throwing a small tumbler which can be shaped into a bowl, small vase or planter. Pottery can be a frustrating craft and not a quick one to master so if you do not go away with your desired shape, please do not be disheartened. Take your time and have fun, practice makes perfect!
What should I bring: You do to need to bring anything but yourselves, all the materials are provided for you. But if you could please wear old clothes, tie long hair back and have short nails if you can.
Please note, this is a private 1-1 session held in my home garden studio in Angmering, West Sussex.
If you have any questions, please contact me before booking, I'm more than happy to help.
